Some advice about what you will need now you have choosen your first puppy.
First of all don't get an auto feeder for a puppy. Dogs have a habit of eating everything that is
presented to them whether they are genuinely hungry or not. You really ought to manually feed the
dog 2-3 times per day in order to one, moniter the amount of food that your dog is eating, and two,
bond with your dog over something as vital as food. By being there to feed your dog and pet it when
you're placing down the bowl, you will have no problem bonding with your puppy. Also, this will be
critical if you decided to move into clicker trainer your dog because of the nature of classical
conditioning.

You will probably also want a crate for your dog. Some people think it's cruel but really it's not.
Not onlly does it give you a safe place to put your dog when you're not in your apartment or house,
it gives your dog a place that is essentially just his. Just like you have your room, so does he.
My dog loved his crate until he outgrew it. I kept it by the couch and put a blanket overtop to
keep it out of the sunlight and therefore cool and to keep it dark and quiet for him. After all,
new puppies are like new babies you can't overstimulate them or else they get grumpy. He's going to
need a place to go to get away from even you sometimes.

As for shampoo/conditioner, you don't need any special puppy products, regular Johnson and Johnson will or Pantene Pro-V. They really don't require anything special. Also try to avoid the scented
pet shampoos because they aren't good for you pets skin and your dog's sense or smell will be a lot
better than yours. You don't mind cuddling up with a watermelon-scented pooch, but he'll be
irritated by smelling intensly like one.

Make sure your chew toys are soft and puppy friendly. If they're too hard, he'll hurt himself and
if they're too soft, they won't give him an avenue to properly develop his jaw muscles. It's better to buy a six foot leash than any retractable one. It gives you better control over your
animal and it also is what you will be required to have in most training classes. Retractable leads
are only good for very small well-trained dogs, never for puppies.

House training, you'll need lots of newspaper for any oops!-moments,We used cat litter trays for all our puppies put one of these by the garden door. when they are used to useing this you can slowly move the tray outside.Just keep an eye out and when the puppy uses it praise and when he misses dont rant and yell just calmly clear it up. Before long you will of house trained your puppy with ease.
Also your puppy will ask you to go out.
